Crate's inaugural show in 2004 was the sold-out hit, Tape. Extended four times during its Dora Award-nominated run, Tape was performed in room #64 of the Gladstone, Toronto’s oldest continually operating hotel. Tape reunites three high school friends in a hotel room, ten years after graduating. It is a twisting and turning quest for the truth - or, what can be remembered of it anyway. Written by American playwright Stephen Belber, Tape has been produced all around the world. The play was also adapted into a film version of the same name, directed by Richard Linklater with Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke, and Robert Sean Leanord. Crate's Tape was the first site-specific presentation of the play. Produced by Chris Reynolds and Kate Meehan, directed by Chad Dembski and starring John Gordon, Kate Meehan, and Chris Reynolds. Kate Meehan was nominated for a Dora Award for her performance in Tape.
